English: The Cherry Festival has been organized annually since 2008 - at the end of June by the Municipality of Kyustendil in partnership with the Institute of Agriculture - Kyustendil, which presents the diversity and innovations in cherry production in our country. The Community centres from the Municipality of Kyustendil participate with their own stands, which are attractively decorated and arranged. The highlight of the holiday is the exhibition-bazaar of cherries and cherry products. Exhibition tables are arranged and covered with this bright and tasty fruit - masterfully made “veshala” are also arranged. A market of Kyustendil cherries is held, with the participation of local farmers. Merchants and artisans from all over the country present their masterpieces. And the guests of the holiday participate in competitive games with cherries. Every year, one of the three days is dedicated to the Cherries in the Kitchen Culinary Competition. In the hardworking hands of Kyustendil chefs, this fruit is widely used - beautiful pies, jams, compotes and syrups from cherries adorn the competition tables, and Kyustendil residents and guests of the city are amazed to discover the diversity of the cherry world and try the unique Kyustendil products and dishes with cherries.
