Summary

[edit]
Description
English: A chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear defense Marine prepares equipment for a decontamination line March 29 during confined space entry training at a cave on Marine Corps Air Station Futenma, Okinawa, Japan. The training allowed CBRN Marines to train in locating and neutralizing threats in a real world underground environment. During the training, the Marines were lowered into the cavern in teams of two or three and performed rigging, reconnaissance, sampling and casualty evacuation. The Marines underwent a decontamination line after completing the training in the cavern to increase their proficiency in mitigating the risks of passing contaminants outside of the hazard area. The Marine is with Headquarters Battalion, 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force.
