Description

Cheam Road, Sutton, on 4 January 1991. I took this picture because of the position of the Cannon cinema, sandwiched between the Trinity Church (of 1906/7) and the little row of shops, probably also Edwardian. How on earth did it get planning consent?!

Twenty years on, Basil Menswear has been replaced by an estate agent's office, but Warrender, the Jewellers, survives. The Cannon has gone, but the nightclub that has appeared in it's place is possibly even uglier.
