Plague Soldier Beetle or Green Soldier Beetle (Chauliognathus lugubris) near Toowoomba, Queensland, Australia. Photographed on 18 April 2009.

These beetles can swarm in huge numbers covering trees in their thousands. I have not seen that in my area.
