English: Chatham Parlor View Left |
||||
Description |
English: A large, bright room with cream-colored wood paneling and red curtains. One exhibit case contains a medical kit, and another in the center of the room shows a diorama with topographical contours. Signs have colored graphics and text. To the left side of the former Chatham Parlor, there is a panel of printed and laminated information regarding the Fredericksburg skyline, visible through the window to the left, a panel showing the artillery placements on Stafford Heights nearby during the Battle of Fredericksburg, an exhibit case featuring Clara Barton and Walt Whitman and a medical kit, and a diorama showing the topography around Chatham and the pontoon bridge river crossing from just below Chatham during the Battle of Fredericksburg in 1862. Text for the diorama is on laminated paper. The exhibits in this room date from 1977-2022 and show the staff's makeshift attempts to update some exhibits in this space. |
