Description
Deutsch: Charlotte von Stein. Eine für das letzte Viertel des 18. Jahrhunderts charakteristische Form des Porträts war die des Schattenrisses, die in den achtziger Jahren ihre Blüte erreichte. Der Hauptsilhouetteur des Weimarer Kreises war wohl Starke, dem auch die Reihe der hier wiedergegebenen ganzfigurigen Schnitte zuverdanken ist. Die Persönlichkeiten sind schon früher genannt. Sämtliche Schattenrisse waren 1932 im Besitz der Sammlung Kippenberg, mit Ausnahme der Frau von Stein und Karl Ludwig von Knebel, die 1932 im Besitz des Goethe-Nationalmuseums in Weimar waren.
