Suspended Parkway Aide Decides to Quit. New Shrewsbury, New Jersey. The resignation of Charles F. Lindauer, Paterson, as supervisor of appraisals and negotiations for the New Jersey Highway Authority was revealed yesterday by Orrie de Nooyer, authority chairman. Mr. Lindauer was suspended from his $9,000-a-year job July 18 by D. Louis Tonti, acting executive director of the authority. The authority would only say that the suspension involved "certain aspects of administrative procedure" within the right of way division. As supervisor of appraisals and negotiations, Mr. Lindauer headed the right of way division, which negotiates for acquisition of land for the Garden State Parkway. In his letter of resignation, Mr. Lindauer stated: "I herewith tender my resignation, as supervisor of appraisals and negotiations effective Aug. IS, 1955. "I have given my full cooperation and honest effort to the discharge of my duties but, in view of circumstances, I feel it proper that I vacate the position held by me." Strike Paragraph. The three member authority voted unanimously to accept the resignation on the motion of Mrs. Katharine Elkus White, vice chairman. Mrs. White stipulated in her motion, however, that the resignation be accepted with the elimination of the second paragraph of Mr. Lindauer's letter, and at a termination date "to be left to the discretion of the authority." In answer to a reporter's question as to why the second paragraph was eliminated, Mr. de Nooyer replied: "I think that speaks for itself." The authority again declined to elaborate on reasons for Lindauer's suspension. Mr. de Nooyer chairperson, said simply "He did not follow the administrative procedures that the regulations call for. Thinks Case Closed. Asked whether the resignation closes the case as far as Mr. Lindauer and the authority are concerned, Mr. de Nooyer replied: "We think so." But he added that if additional action is warranted by the authority "it will certainly be taken." Theodore W. Geiser, general attorney for the authority, said a study of procedures within the right of way division is continuing Mr. Tonti, when the suspension was announced, stated that Mr, Lindauer would be entitled to a public hearing on the charges against him if he wanted one, The executive director said the implication of the resignation is that Mr. Lindauer does not want a public hearing. In answer to a question, Mr. de Nooyer said the suspension had nothing to do with the land acquisition case involving property in Clifton owned by state Senator Franklin W. Shershin, (Republican-Passaic).

Works copyrighted before 1964 had to have the copyright renewed sometime in the 28th year. If the copyright was not renewed, the work is in the public domain. No renewal notice was found for this periodical for issues published in this year. For instance, the first New York Times issue renewed was from April 1, 1928. Some publications may have renewed an individual article from an earlier time, for instance the New York Times renewed at least one article published on January 9, 1927. If you find any contrary evidence, or the renewal database has been updated, please notify me. No renewal notices have been found for articles supplied by the Associated Press to subscribing newspapers.
