Étang « Het Broeck », à Overmeire
Cet étang occupe le lit d’un ancien méandre de l’Escaut.
Dans l’eau, Stratiotes aloides avec feuilles linéaires dressées obliquement hors de l’eau ; Nymphaea alba, en fleurs, Potamogeton natans avec épis émergés.
Devant, pâturage marécageux, avec Lychnis Flos-Cuculi, en fleurs, Phalaris arundinacea, Festuca pratensis, etc. — Au loin, le bois de la photographie suivante.
Cette planche peut donner une idée des marécages et des forêts qui occupaient la Flandre du temps

des Romains.
