Limite supérieure du schorre, dans l’estuaire de l’Yser
Les épaves abandonnées sur le terrain marquent le niveau atteint par la forte marée du 10 septembre 1904 (voir planche 44). Il est tout à fait exceptionnel que les marées dépassent cette limite.
A gauche, près des Vaches, végétation typique du schorre, fortement influencée par la salure.
A droite, végétation des dunes, surtout Festuca rubra, Agrostis alba et Mousses.
La limite entre la végétation du schorre et celle de la dune est nettement tranchée. La zone où les deux flores sont mélangées n’a pas ici plus de 2 mètres de largeur, quoique le terrain soit presque horizontal.

Au loin, le phare de Nieuport.
