Summary
[edit]DescriptionChapman Market 2.jpg |
English: The historic Chapman Market building now houses restaurants and stores that cater to Korean-speaking patrons. The building was restored in 1989 by The Ratkovitch Company and includes second-story offices. Chapman Market was designed by Morgan, Walls & Clements and was built in 1929 as the nation’s first drive-in market. It represents one of the finest examples of Spanish Revival architecture in Los Angeles. The building was built for Charles Chapman, who with his brothers were major land owners: besides opening Chapman Market, they founded what's now known as Chapman University and also published county almanacs and county histories under the name "Chapman Brothers." Charles Chapman was also know as "The Orange King of California." |
