...Dans l'Île de France et la Normandie, l'indécision dure plus longtemps; les archivoltes sont munis souvent de gros boudins, sont maigres et ne viennent pas franchement se reposer sur la saillie du chapiteau. Cela est apparent dans la nef de la cathédrale d'Évreux, où quelques piles du XIe siècle, qui ont conservé leurs chapiteaux et archivoltes primitifs, nous présentent une disposition reproduite ici (7)...
