English: Chapel in Melgaço Portugal
Português: Capela da Senhora do Alívio, Fiães Melgaço, construída em 1867, segundo data inscrita numa cartela existente na fachada principal, sobre a porta de acesso. Sobre o óculo, outra cartela exibe a inscrição: ‘NA SA DO ALLIVIO’.
O que mais distingue esta capela é a decoração da frontaria, esculpida no espaço entre a porta e a cimalha que a remata. Os ornatos, envoltos em molduras ou em entrelaçados, são variados privilegiando a temática geométrica e naturalista: losangos, quadrifólios, florais, estrela de oito pontas, coração, cordões, etc. Dir-se-ia que o escultor ‘bordou’ a fachada, dotando-a de uma espécie de‘cortina’ que cai sobre a porta e, além desta, como ‘pingente’. |
