Notes | This elegant and restrained side chair has simple cabriole legs and plain feet. Its tall stuffed back and seat are covered in needlework designed with figures in 18th century costume and animals. Many of these designs were taken from illustrations and engravings. Side chairs were placed against the wall of a formal room to form a decorative ensemble closely coordinated with the wall decoration. | |||||||||||||||||||||||
