Description
Français : Vers 1120, Henri Beauclerc, fils de Guillaume le Conquérant, fait aménager à proximité de la tour-porte du château de Caen un donjon d'une hateur de 25 à 30 mètres. En 1793, après le maintien en détention de deux députés de la Convention, celle-ci décide la destruction du château et de son donjon. Ce dernier fut le plus vivement touchée par les destructions. La faible élévation qui en subsistait fut détruite au début du XIXème siècle. Des fouilles réalisées au cours des années 1960 ont permis de faire apparaître ces vestiges.
