Description

If these studious student knew that not far from, October 26, 1440, the biggest criminal of his time was hanged and burned the castle moat of their Nantes seem more disturbing.

Gilles de Montmorency-Laval, best known under the name of Gilles de Rais was born in 1404 at Castle Machecoul, was first comrade of Joan of Arc. It will be a hero of the Hundred Years War. Following a dispute with the Church, it is launching a procedure to investigate the rumors. Gilles de Rais was arrested September 15, 1540 for a slight excuse, but on October 8, he discovered in the court of the Inquisition, the real indictment, sodomy, murder, witchcraft. He is locked in the castle of Nantes. The indictment accuses him 140 murders, mostly children.
