Description

Château de Fougères-sur-Bièvre (Loir-et-Cher).


Construit du milieu du XVe siècle jusqu’à la Renaissance (1525), le château de Fougères-sur-Bièvres est un exemple de demeure seigneuriale fortifiée du Moyen Age finissant.

On trouve mention de la seigneurie de Fougères dès 1030. Le château est détruit par les Anglais, lors de la guerre de Cent Ans. Il sera reconstruit à partir de 1465, en conservant un aspect encore médiéval et défensif : chemin de ronde, mâchicoulis, tours et courtines.

Constructed of mid-fifteenth century to the Renaissance (1525), the castle of Fougeres sur Bievre is an example of a fortified mansion of the late Middle Ages.

We find mention of the manor of Ferns since 1030. The castle was destroyed by the English during the Hundred Years War. It will be rebuilt from 1465, maintaining an even medieval defensive: parapet, battlements, towers and curtain.
