Châlons-en-Champagne (Marne) Collégiale Notre-Dame-en-Vaux (XIIe - XVe siècles), styles roman et gothique. "Vaux" pluriel de "val", rappelle que le site était un marais ou circulaient trois cours d'eau dont il ne reste que le Mau.
La chapelle devient église paroissiale en 1107. En 1114, des chanoines administrent Notre-Dame, d'où son statut de collégiale, ils demandent leur indépendance vis-à-vis de la cathédrale. Le début de la construction de la collégiale remonte a la moitié du XIIe siècle, pour remplacer l'église précédente qui s'était effondrée le 15 janvier 1157. Il ne reste de l'église que le niveau inférieur du transept et des tours du chevet. Plusieurs miracles à la Vierge sont constatés à ce moment-là; Notre-Dame devient alors un centre de pèlerinage important ce qui bénéficie, grâce aux offrandes, à la reconstruction de l'église. La nouvelle église est bénie par l'évêque Gui de Joinville, en 1183. En 1187, un arbitrage de l'archevêque de reims met fin à un conflit entre les chanoines et le chapitre de la cathédrale qui était propriétaire de l'église Notre-Dame: Les chanoines obtiennent la pleine propriété des offrandes des fidèles. En 1790, les chanoines sont chassés de la collégiale. Cinq ans plus tard, l'édifice devient église de la paroisse. En 1814, à la fin du Premier Empire, l'édifice est investit par les armées coalisées : Le mobilier en bois est brûlé pour le chauffage, et de nombreux vitraux sont cassés pour évacuer la fumée. L'architecte Lassus, élève de Violet-le-Duc et restaurateur de la Sainte-Chapelle entreprendra la reconstruction de la collégiale dans le style de l'architecture médiéval.
La façade est flanquée de deux tours romanes. Les verrières sont du XVIe siècle. Le carillon, offert par Mgr Prilly en 1858, avec ses 56 cloches, est l'un des plus grands d'Europe. Les deux flèches sont recouvertes de plomb. Le portail sud avant d'être martelé, en 1793, avait un décor de statues-colonnes.
