The main church in Kranj

Summary

[edit]
Description
English: The Church of St. Cantian and Companions is a late Gothic church probably from the end of the 14th century, dedicated to St. Kancijan, Kancij, Proto and Kancijanili and stands on the foundations of a pre-Slavic sacral building from the 6th century, as shown by archaeological research in 1972 and 1984. It stands in the center of Kranj, on the edge of the main square. It is one of the most important monuments of Gothic architecture in Slovenia and a model for many later churches (Radovljica, Škofja Loka, Kamnik, Šentrupert in Dolenjska)
