Summary

[edit]
Description

British-made Centurion Mk-7 of the Indian🇮🇳 Army. My second favourite tank in the museum. Centurion Tanks are considered to be one of the most successful post-war tank designs. In 1965, the bulk of India's tank fleet was older M4 Sherman tanks, but India also had Centurion Mk.7 tanks, with the 105 mm gun. The Centurion Mk.7 at that time was one of the most modern western tanks. In the Battle of Assal Uttar, The Centurion, with its 105mm gun and heavy armour, proved to be more than a match to M47 and M48 Patton's, Pakistan was outfought on the battlefield by India. Despite the qualitative and numerical superiority of Pakistani armour. The Centurion battle tank, with its 105 mm gun and heavy armour, performed better than the overly complex Patton's. Hence the name was given to the Centurion Tank "Bahadur" which means Brave. (The picture is been edited)
