Summary
[edit]DescriptionCentral Church, Maesteg - geograph.org.uk - 4225943.jpg |
English: Central Church, Maesteg.
Central Church in Church Street is now (2014) a local ecumenical partnership (Baptist, Methodist and United Reformed Church). Central Church was formed in 1985 when members of the Unity Church (Methodists and English Congregationalists) joined the Baptists who already worshipped here. Though the church information board states that Christians have worshipped in this building since 1847, the inscription in stone on the building shows the year 1859 (Bethel English Baptist Chapel), which suggests that it is the 1859 rebuild of the 1847 original. |
