The same thingwould be true of harvest time. While differencesin life and crop zones of the State have not beenprofoundly influenced by altitude, neverthelessan intimate knowledge of the topography of theState is of inestimable value to the people in theseveral ways enumerated under the head of Hyp-sometry of Indiana in the Thirty-sixth AnnualReport of Department of Geology, as follows: 1. As preliminary maps for planning extensiveirrigation and drainage projects, showing areasof catchment for water supply, sites for reser-voirs, routes of canals, etc. 2. For laying out of highways, electric roads,railroads, aqueducts, and sewage systems, thussaving the cost of preliminary surveys. 3. In improving rivers and smaller waterways.
