Description

Único cemitério do Brasil, onde a totalidade dos jazigos foi construída no estilo bizantino. Além da localização: encravado no sopé de uma Serra, a história desta obra também é muito interessante.

Segundo a história oral,pois não há documentos comprobatórios, no começo do séc. 19, surtos de cólera e varíola atingiram Mucugê. Com tantos mortos, a cidade precisava de um novo local para enterrá-los, longe do centro. Com a influência dos turcos (compradores de diamantes) que moravam na região, surgiu o improvável cemitério, com jazigos de formas pontiagudas, góticas, representando miniaturas de igrejas e capelas.
