English: Marble funerary relief, irregular in shape, dedicated to the memory of Nigel McKechnie CE (1861-1893) in the English Cemetery in Málaga, Spain. It is surmounted by a large anchor (a symbol of hope in sailors' tombs) that closes on a withered tree and, completing the whole, a scroll on the front with the epitaph. The corporeal anchor of McKechnie's grave is one of the most beautiful in the cemetery. The inscription reads: "To / the loving memory / of Nigel McKechnie CE / who died at Málaga / on tthe 5th June 1893 / aged 32 years / What's grave, what's noble, / let's do it; / and make death proud to take us." Español: Relieve funerario en mármol, de forma irregular, dedicado a la memoria de Nigel McKechnie CE (1861-1893) en el Cementerio Inglés de Málaga. Sobre él descansa una gran ancla (símbolo de esperanza en las tumbas de marinos) que se cierra determinando en un árbol marchito y, completando el conjunto, un pergamino en la parte delantera donde reza el epitafio. El áncora corporea de la tumba de McKechnie es una de las más bellas del cementerio. La inscripción dice: «To / the loving memory / of Nigel McKechnie CE / who died at Málaga / on tthe 5th June 1893 / aged 32 years / What's grave, what's noble, / let's do it; / and make death proud to take us». |
