Summary
[edit]DescriptionCattle using a NRCS designed windbreak as part of a grazing plan. (11735917694).jpg |
Cattle using a fabricated windbreak in north western South Dakota. The windbreak was part of an overall Conservation Plan provided to the rancher free of charge by the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS). The NRCS staff helped the producer with assessing their resources, planning their grazing rotation to meet their goals and designing conservation practices such as this fabricated windbreak. In areas where trees don't grow very well naturally, the fabricated windbreak is an alternative to help shelter their animals from the harsh winter winds and snow. There are other benefits to society from conservation practices such as these. Photo by Seth Skogen, Bison, SD, NRCS Field Office. |
