Français : Cathédrale Saint-Sauveur, entrée et potelet d'information, place Monseigneur de Boisgelin, Aix-en-Provence (France). Sa construction s’étale sur plus d’un millénaire, depuis le réemploi d’éléments romains dans la partie sud, jusqu’aux chapelles baroques du collatéral nord. Ceci fait de la cathédrale un abrégé d’architecture et d’histoire de l’art. Le premier groupe épiscopal s’élève sur le forum romain et reçoit le baptistère du 5e siècle avec ses colonnes antiques. La partie romane et son cloître canonial datent du 12e siècle. Le clocher commencé en 1323 ne reçoit ses cloches qu’en 1430. Leurs succèdent au 14e siècle la nef principale gothique puis au 15e siècle, la façade de style gothique flamboyant. Les vantaux de la porte, finement travaillés, sont sculptés en 1510 par des artisans imagiers locaux autour de Jean Guiramand. Les chapelles baroques l’agrandissent au nord à la fin du 17e siècle. La cathédrale abrite le triptyque du « Buisson ardent », peint en 1476 par Nicolas Froment, sur lequel le Roi René et la Reine Jeanne de Laval sont représentés en prière. |
