La pintura decorativa de Palomino se halla a caballo entre el viejo estilo de la escuela madrileña, de solemnes encuadramientos arquitectónicos, y el nuevo estilo de decoración que impone la llegada de Luca Giordano, un estilo más ligero, aéreo, cercano a las primeras manifestaciones del Rococó.Con Palomino podemos decir que concluye esta etapa de la pintura en Madrid y se inicia otra, en la que destaca el magisterio de los artistas italianos y franceses importados por los Borbones.
