English: The Cadfan Stone, (also Catamanus Stone), commemorates King Cadfan of Gwynedd, Cadwaladr’s grandfather. It is the most important gravestone in Anglesey if not Wales; site was the burial ground associated with the Royal Court at Aberffraw. It is believed to be the first tombstone to bear a Celtic Cross.
It reads: CATAMUS / REX SAPIENTISI / MUS OPINATISIM / US OMNIUM / REG / UM St Cadwaladr's Church is a Grade I listed church in Llangadwaladr, Anglesey. The nave is dated to the 12th to early 13th century and the chancel to the 14th. The 'Cadfan Stone' commemorates King Cadfan of Gwynedd, Cadwaladr’s grandfather, who died in 625.
