General Information LOCATION AND SURROUNDINGS The College is located in Madison County, on theKentucky Central R. R., one hundred and thirty milessouth of Cincinnati. Thetown bears the samename, Berea, and is ahealthful village, delight-fully situated among thefoot-hills of the Cumber-land Mountains. It is onthe dividing line betweenthe mountains, the homeof the famous -mountainpeople whose loyaltyforms so romantic an epi-sode in the Civil War, andthe noted Blue GrassRegion on the west. Twomiles east is the pinnaclefrom which Daniel Boonefirst viewed the fertileplains of Kentucky. The citizens as a rule,sympathize with the edu-cational and moral aimsof the Institution, Thevillage shows many marks of enterprise and improve-ment. Its law prohibiting the sale of intoxicants isvigorously enforced. Desirable lots for residences areobtainable in Berea on very reasonable terms. The climate ismild and healthful, elevation above sea level being 1020feet, while mountain excursions invite healthful exercise. GROUNDS AND BUILDINGS The grounds, embracing some fifty acres, are attract-ive from abundance of native forest trees shading thecampus, which forms the center of the village of Berea. The College possesses for educational uses the fol-lowing buildings :
