Catalogue of Flowers, 1899. Ill Fmp. of India. Bright velvety red, yellow edge, and serrated petals. Etruria. Leaves bright red, edge feathered light green. Firebrand. Dark maroon, edged pale green. Fireman. Center deep crimson, zoned with purple. Golden Bedder. Canary yellow foliage ; deep gold in the sun. Pres. Garfield. Leaves darkest, irregularly blotched with crimson, veined in center with green and yellow. Her Majesty. Dark red, edged with golden yellow. Hero. Very large leaf; blackish purple. John Good. Light green, mottled with yellow. moonbeam. Center of leaf pale canary with border of light green. M. Donon. Dark red. WI. Daudet. Light green and yellow background, naked with maroon. Mrs* Hunt. Ground color and center of leaf a bright crimson, with a deep chocolate border to this, and this in turn completely edged with bright green and yellow. M. ISlancon. Edge of leaf deeply notched, center of bright crimson, outer edge almost black. Ocif.aroon. Leaf green with center of yeilow, irregu- larly blotched with red. Pluto. Very dark, blackish maroon. Progress. Speckled crimson on green and gold ground. Rag Carpet. The leaf is large, and the ground col- oring is a carmine red, running lengthwise ; this in turn is broadly edged with a chocolate red. Sparkler. Sparkling reddish maroon ; bright rose in the center. Verschaffelti. Young plants are often a dingy shade for a short time after planting, but they soon assume the rich velvety crimson so satisfying to the eye ; a grand bedder, " fjenewi faMwtinq pouge aijd Bedding piaqfe For the House and Conservatory. J>J> For the La<wn and Flower Garden. ASPARAGUS. Pretty Ornamental Climbing Varieties. Give a rich, sandy soil, a moderately warm temperature, plenty of moisture at the roots, and partial shade, either in-doors or out. Asparagus Sprengeri. A beautiful new variety of this graceful class of plants, es- pecially useful to grow as a pot plant for house decoration, or for planting in hanging baskets, where it makes a graceful drooping plant with branches or fronds 4 to 5 feet in length, of a rich shade of green ; a useful plant for cutting for decorating, as it retains its freshness for weeks after being cut. It is easily managed and will grow in almost any position. 15 cts.; two for 25 cents. Asparagus Plomosus Nanus. A beautiful variety, of elegant spreading form. The branches arch gracefully, and are exquis- itely fine and lace-like, yet firm and strong, lasting for weeks when cut and placed in water. The fronds are fifteen to eighteen inches in length, and taper to a point from a width of twelve inches. One of the most beautiful de- corative plants. 20 cents; three for 50 cents. (See cut.) ALTERNANTHERAS, Five cents each ; 50 cents per dozen. A urea Nana. Very dwarf; clear yellow, holding its color uniformly throughout the Parycboides. Leaves tinted green and straw color. A good grower. ABUTILONS. Abutilons are held in general esteem. They grow luxur- iantly and bloom in profusion under ordinary care and in almost any soil. They are admired for the pretty bell-shaped flowers and the handsome variegated foliage some of the varieties possess. 10 cents each. AGATHEA C(ELESTIS. Daisy-shaped flowers of intense blue, with yellow disc for center. 10 cents.
Text Appearing After Image:
Asparagus Plomosus Nanus. AGERATUMS. Five cents each ; 50 cents per dozen. Plants suitable for either Summer or Winter bloom, and bearing their flowers in the greatest profusion. They are of the easiest possible cultivation, requiring but ordinary care; the leaves are a soft grayish green, and the flowers are of the shape of the Lady's Paintbrush, in clusters. Lasts a long time when cut.
