This course should have included the study, during a period ofone year, of liquids, gases, heat, light, sound, magnetism, elec-tricity and mechanics. It should have included lectures, fullyillustrated by experiment, individual laboratory work by thestudent, with the keeping of a laboratory note-book, and the studyof a text with discussions and quizzes. The usual college preparatory physics is accepted, but it is.preferable for students entering the Normal School that less timethan is usual be spent in the study of mechanics and the working-of problems, and that more time be devoted to the study of heat,gases, liquids, light, magnetism and electricity, with especial refer-ence to their bearing upon every-day life and upon the phasesneeded for a comprehension of geography,
