Blackboard Drawing— A course planned to familiarize students with methods of teach-ing drawing and to give them confidence in drawing on the black-board for class room purposes. Gymnastics and Hygiene The purpose of the course in physical training is threefold: 1. To keep each student in good physical condition and to in-spire in her a thorough appreciation of the importance of health.For this purpose three weekly lectures are given throughout thefirst semester in principles of physiology- and hygiene correlatedwith three hours of practical gymnastic training where such train-ing may be applied. 2. To give a knowledge of scientific school-room lighting, heat-ing, ventilation and seating, and to train the student to recognizegood or bad conditions of the same. A course of lectures on sex hygiene is given to the students ofthe Senior class by a woman physician. Physical Science The aim in this course is to give an intelligent comprehension ofsuch facts in physical nature as are apt to present themselves ineveryday life or are fundamental to geography, physiology, biology,psychology and music. The work is connected as closely as possiblewith the work in these departments. The student is also shown that there are many facts, bothphysical and chemical, concerning heat, air, water, light, sound,magnetism and electricity which are of great value and interest topupils in the elementary schools.
