large successful installations of the Carrier System,using both refrigerated water and cold well water have beenin operation for several years. Public Buildings and Offices: The Carrier AirWasher and Humidifier is adapted for use in all public build-ings where health, comfort and cleanliness are factors con-sidered. No heating and ventilating system is perfect orhygienic without it. In winter it relieves the oppressive andunhealthful dryness of the heated buildings by imparting tothe air a natural and well regulated humidity—a featureparticularly valuable in schools and offices. In summer itcombines its functions as an effective medium for ventilationand purification of the air supplied with that of cooling. Thereduction of temperature effected depends on the temperaturesof air and water respectively; the average cooling effect isabout 10 degrees, and the conditions governing this arecovered more fully in the foregoing paragraphs. 91 Carrier Air Conditioning Company of America — c

Type B Washer Installed in Beacon Theatre, Boston, Mass. 92 Carrier Air Conditioning Company of America Libraries and Banks: In libraries, where cleanlinessof the air is of great importance, the system is invaluable,as it removes all traces of dust and soot, and a uniformrelative humidity is very necessary for the preservation ofbooks and records. An eminent New York engineer, who was called upon toinvestigate the conditions in one of the large libraries in St.Louis, discovered that the lack of a proper percentage ofhumidity was ruining the leather bindings of the books withinthree years. Banks find it a valuable adjunct to the heatingand ventilation. The La Crosse, Wisconsin, National Bankhas the following to say in regard to the Carrier Air Washer: I am glad to state that the air washer which you installedin our new building is working very satisfactorily and webelieve it to be as good as anything of the kind on the market.We do not hesitate to recommend it without reservation toany
