large successful installations of the Carrier System,using both refrigerated water and cold well water have beenin operation for several years. Public Buildings and Offices: The Carrier AirWasher and Humidifier is adapted for use in all public build-ings where health, comfort and cleanliness are factors con-sidered. No heating and ventilating system is perfect orhygienic without it. In winter it relieves the oppressive andunhealthful dryness of the heated buildings by imparting tothe air a natural and well regulated humidity—a featureparticularly valuable in schools and offices. In summer itcombines its functions as an effective medium for ventilationand purification of the air supplied with that of cooling. An eminent New York engineer, who was called upon toinvestigate the conditions in one of the large libraries in St.Louis, discovered that the lack of a proper percentage ofhumidity was ruining the leather bindings of the books withinthree years. Banks find it a valuable adjunct to the heatingand ventilation.
