Text Appearing Before Image:
by a wire cloth strainer, through whichthe water passes before entering the suction of the pump. Thisstrainer offers a surface of more than one square foot foreach foot in width of the tank. The area of the strainerbeing many times the area of the suction pipe provides athorough filtering of the water at a very low velocity. Thestrainer is made of No. 12 mesh copper gauze. The openingin spray nozzles is %q inches in diameter so there can be noclogging of the nozzles. Over the top of the compartment formed between thestrainer and the end of the tank to which the suction of thepump is connected, is placed a cover to prevent any dirt fromfalling in as the air passes over it. The swinging lid iseasily opened to allow for cleaning the strainer when the tankis being cleaned. The elimination of dirt from the water before it entersthe spray system is far better than any effort to flush thepiping and nozzles to remove the dirt after it has once entered. 13 Details Common to All Carrier Washers
