The plant has me- dium height, a cluster of loose folding tender leaves forms the head. 90 days. May be grown on a wide range of soU, but a sandy loam with pH 5.5-6.5 is preferred. Make first planting after last frost ; in spring and a second planting 3 to 4 weeks later. Fertilize with 800 lbs. of 8-8-8 per acre i (3 qts. per 100 ft. of row) 7-10 days before planting. Plant in rows 5 feet apart and drill seed I so that a final stand of one plant every 12-14 inches is obtained. Cultivate shallow and early to keep weeds down.
