Summary
[edit]DescriptionCastle Lachlan - geograph.org.uk - 1135971.jpg |
English: Castle Lachlan This was the seat of Clan MacLachlan. The name is of Norse origin but they settled here from Ulster in the 13th century and the castle dates from the mid 15th century. For their adherence to the Jacobite cause the castle was bombarded by the Royal Navy in 1746 and has since remained a ruin . A legend persists that when the chief was killed at Culloden his horse fled the field and found its own way back to Castle Lachlan. |
