| Description |
English: Site of Castle Kennedy station. View eastward, towards Ayr, also previously Dumfries and Carlisle: ex-G&SW & Caledonian Joint (Portpatrick & Wigtownshire) main line from Stranraer. This was and remains the principal main railway route to Northern Ireland, but since 14/6/65 when the direct line from Dumfries was closed (!) traffic from England has had to go to Stranraer all the way round via Ayr: Castle Kennedy station was also closed on 14/6/65. |
