Summary
[edit]DescriptionCastle Eden Burn passes under the A1086 Coast Road geograph-6712144-by-Andy-Waddington.jpg |
English: Castle Eden Burn passes under the A1086 Coast Road. As an alternative to climbing the steep embankment of the A1086 and crossing the road, one may pass under it on a ledge alongside the Castle Eden Burn. However, it's not a short tunnel, the ledge isn't especially wide or well paved and there is definitely no lighting, so a head torch or a white stick might be useful. We had rather neglected to come suitably equipped, anticipating a rather shorter subterranean journey and found it quite entertainingly dark. The trip is not made any easier if one happens to be possessed (as we were) of a rather panic-ridden puppy, as she made for a significant and invisible tripping hazard whose position was always in doubt until you actually stood on her at which point the panic (from both participants) was enhanced. We didn't fall in the stream. |
