Description

Castiles Farm, near Kirkby Malzeard, North Yorkshire, England. The previous farm house on this land was once the home of William Grainge (1816–1895). Grainge, a self-taught archaeologist, excavated the land on the farm which was known as the Cast Hills settlement. Grainge believed Cast Hills to be a military camp, but the site is now understood to have been an Iron Age settlement. "25 earthfast boulders and a boundary ditch" are supposed to be visible over the boundary wall of the farm, but in these photographs of 2021, no archaeological evidence was visible.

Showing the modern farm house which has replaced the former home of Grainge and his parents.
