Description
Italiano: Edificato nel 1470 per volere del duca Pirro del Balzo, il Castello di Venosa è una costruzione imponente, a pianta quadrata con quattro torri cilindriche.

La costruzione di un Castello con ampio fossato comportò la demolizione della cattedrale romanica e del quartiere che la circondava.

Da Fortezza, fu trasformato in dimora signorile dai Principi Carlo ed Emanuele Gesualdo, con l'aggiunta della loggia interna e dell'ala nord-ovest.

Dal 1612 fu sede dell'Accademia dei Rinascenti.

All'interno, si apre un ampio cortile circondato da un loggiato rinascimentale.

Negli ambienti ricavati nei basamenti delle torri ha sede il Museo Archeologico Nazionale di Venosa , che raccoglie la documentazione di età romana, tardo antica e altomedioevale della città e del suo territorio.
