| Description |
English: Castell Llwyd. This earthwork lies a short distance west of Castell Mawr (see a beautiful aerial image 405948). It is mostly clothed in vegetation which makes the shape hard to discern at this time of year but this appears to be the entry point. The fortification stands above the Afon Nyfer just below its meeting with the Afon Brynberian.
Described by Figgis in 'Prehistoric Preseli, a field guide' 2001 as "a classically situated small pear-shaped bracken and grass covered promontory fort....There are remains of hut circles in the interior". The best view is said to be from higher up the path when the leaves are off the trees. |
