Cymraeg: Castell Gwydir: Hen blasdy yn Nyffryn Conwy, ger Llanrwst, cartref hanesyddol Wyniaid Gwydir. Er bod yma adeilad o'r 14g, credir i Meredith ap Ieuan ap Robert ailadeiladu'r cyfan. Newidiodd mab Meredydd, sef John y traddodiad o ddefnyddio 'ap', gan droi at y dull Saesnig o ddefnyddio cyfenw, a dyna gychwyn teulu'r 'Wyniaid' - a fu'n arweinwyr ac yn noddwyr pwysig yng Ngwynedd.
English: Gwydir Castle, Llanrwst, Cymru (Wales). A Listed Grade 1 as a nationally important Tudor mansion house incorporating earlier medieval elements and for its significance as the seat from c.1500-c.1674 of the notable Wynn family.
The site was established as a residence by the C14; at the end of the C15 the house was bought by Meredydd ap Ieuan ap Robert, who rebuilt Gwydir at the turn of the century. Meredith's son and heir, John adopted the surname Wynn, thus founding a dynasty who until the close of the C17 were to dominate Gwynedd in terms of patronage and politics.
