Title
Cast copper alloy spout from a 14/15th century ewer
Description
English: Cast copper alloy spout of vestigial zoomorphic form from a 14/15th century ewer.

The spout appears to be copying the more usual spout form of a dog’s head. The end of the spout tapers to a narrower opening representing the lower part of the face. There is then a plain raised ridge which tapers to apoint at each side. This represents the head of the animal. The neck of the spout is plain and circular in section.

There are other similar but more elaborate spouts recorded on the database.
