Title
Cast copper alloy openwork mount
Description
English: Probably a cast copper-alloy decorative mount dating from the post-medieval or early modern period, i.e. c. AD1500-1800. The mount is roughly triangular-shaped, but with two broken edges. The remaining edges suggest that they meet at a 45 degree angle. While the reverse is plain, the obverse is decorated with moulded and openwork decoration consisting of feathers, plants and possibly piscine, but the obverse is very worn and not all the decorative elements are easily identifiable. There are no means of attachment remaining on the reverse of the mount, but one would except simple rivets. The overall pattern and patina suggest a 18th century date.
