Title
Cast copper alloy figurine dating from the late Iron Age to early Roman period.
Description
English: Cast copper alloy figurine dating from the late Iron Age to early Roman period. The figurine has a strong face with an angular chin tilting slightly upwards. The eyes are sub-oval and the mouth represented by a straight groove. The face is badly corroded and the noise missing. The hair of the figurine is represented by a raised oval which is cap-like. This is covered with small incised zigzag grooves representing strands of the hair. The head measures 20mm in length and 12mm in width. The shoulders are broad and angular. The torso tapers down from the shoulders towards the legs. The shoulders measure 22mm in width. The arms are tucked in at the sides and bend upwards at the elbow. The hands are clenched against the torso and in on hand a long narrow object is clasped. The object is long and circular in cross-section. It tapers towards his head and the tip has broken away just below his neck. There are no diagnostic features on this object enabling it to be identified.

The legs of the figurine are apart and bent slightly at the knee. They taper towards the feet which have both broken away. The legs measure 45mm in length. The reverse of the object is badly corroded and a straight groove runs the length of the torso beginning at the head and terminating where the legs divide. This is possibly meant to represent the spine and defines the buttocks also. Although the figure appears to be naked there are no visible genitalia.

Similar object which can be seen on the database is NCL-008576, GLO-058493, and WAW-E51368.
