Description
English: Cast copper alloy buckle of early medieval date. Single loop D-shaped buckle of the two animals biting the bar type. The stylised heads are very worn and bite the buckle bar. The snout tips have protruding lappets. It has a dark grey patina and the pin is missing. Similar examples of this type of buckle can be found in Griffiths, D., Philpott. and Egan, G. Meols. The Archaeology of the North West Wirral Coast Oxford University School of Archaeology Oxford, p62 & 72.
