||
Description |
English: Cast copper alloy brooch dating to the Roman period, 45-410AD. The wings are tubular and short. The head rises out from the wings giving the object a curved profile. The bow tapers down towards the foot which is missing. The catchplate is missing also. The object is quite thick, 8.18mm and has a raised median ridge which runs down the bow. The bow is hexagonal in cross-section. The remains of an iron bar can be seen within the wings. The wings are decorated either side of the head with two diagonal incised lines. The object is in good condition and has a mid green patina. |
