Description
English: Cast copper alloy bow and fantail brooch dating from 50-150 AD. The cylindrical tubular wings are perforated to take a concealed copper alloy axis bar and there is a slot in the centre for the incomplete pin which is still attached. The humped bow is D-shaped in section and tapers into the flat triangular foot. The foot is decorated with punched dot decoration, and the sides of the foot are raised. The catchplate is incomplete and worn. The object has a mid-green patina and is corroded in places.
