Description |
English: Cast copper alloy D-shaped buckle of probable Early Early-Medieval date. The pin is missing. Length 32mm, width 37mm and 10.6mm thick. Weight 42.21g The frame is almost D-shaped in cross-section; the upper surface is flat and the underside is concave. The narrowed bar is 13mm in length and sub-circular in cross-section, about 6mm in diameter. A mid-green patina has survived in places where it has not been attacked by bronze disease. There is no sign of tinning or decoration and there are two small areas of iron staining on the underside of the frame. |
