Cast copper-alloy sub-annular shoe or knee buckle dating to the Post-Medieval period, (1500-1700).
Description
English: Cast copper-alloy sub-annular shoe or knee buckle dating to the Post-Medieval period, (1500-1700). The buckle has a drilled frame for a separate spindle, which is missing. The frame is decorated with multiple moulded transverse grooves on each end of the frame. On each side of the frame is a raised pyramidal moulding. It has a dark green patina and is in good condition. A similar example is no. 605, p98, Whitehead, (2003). It can be dated from c.1660-1720.
