Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Cast Iron Canal Bridge at Braunston Turn, Northamptonshire The present Grand Union Canal meets the present (North) Oxford canal at Braunston Turn, and goes under a pair of cast iron bridges (93 and 94). (Turn right along the Grand Union towards Leicester, Northampton and London - turn left along the Oxford Canal towards Rugby and Coventry). The bridges were cast at Horseley Iron Works in Tipton. Bridge 93 is shown here, leading the way towards Leicester and Northampton. The numbering of the bridges nearby reveals (a) that all this stretch formerly was part of the Oxford Canal, and (b) the original junction was not here, but about 500 metres to the east, where the Grand Union from London originally linked with the existing Oxford Canal.
